I'm sorry to hear that, after testing several solutions, we have found this is the strongest fix that takes less than 60 min and causes minimum mess. What don't you like about it ? and how would you fix this problem?

It's in German, but I think you don't need the audio to understand what he's doing. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a better video quickly. I would probably do it a little differently, depending on whether I want to use the wooden slat as an anchor point for the screws of the curtain pole or not, but the general method is correct. It's also better to first apply the compound and then work the mesh in, but the way he does it works too; it's just that the other way around is a bit easier to handle. Also, you don't need to make the hole as big as he does. You are using the wrong plugs. These are for stone walls; they are not good for drywall. There are much better ones that distribute the load better and can support more weight. However, I would probably use the wooden slat as an anchor point for the screws. This way, you don't need special plugs and the load it can handle increases drastically. It depends on what plugs and screws I have on hand at the time. And the wood filler... I don't know... if it works, okay, but I guess that stuff is not cheap. There are products specially made for that job which are probably not as expensive as the wood filler. I would say you could do that job in less than 20 minutes, depending on the wall finish. But I am a professional and have done this many times in my life.

Thank you for taking the time to reply. You make some valid points. We would recommend your method if the repair was for a larger hole. It was not necessary as the damage was only quite small approx few inches square. In hindsight I should have spent 5 mins sanding down the repair at the end and painting it white and you would see that this is as professional finish as the method in the video and the repair would be completely invisible and can hold 12.5 Kg and curtains are only approx 1 - 2Kg so it does work ok. As well as high performance wood filler there are other trade fillers you can also use such as Toupret however we have found that the drying time can take 4 hours which is not as fast. If you do this repair on older buildings such as Georgian houses or listed buildings in the UK, they may not have 4 by 2 studs and we do not know how big the void is behind the plasterboard, so putting a wooden batten behind is not always straight forward, there may not be as much space and we then may have to make a bigger hole than is ideal. If the ceilings are high the repair could be 9 foot off the ground and this is not as straight forward and quick to do as you are on a step ladder. Performance wood filler is not cheap it is approx £15 but if you have no materials and have to buy a small sheet of plasterboard from wickes a roll of scrim tape and some plaster, it probably works out similar cost or more expensive Perhaps we should delete this video and do plasterboard repair for small / medium or large holes. as each size of repair has a slightly different method. Or show different solutions and test them with weights so customers can then see which would work best for them Thank you for taking the time to reply it is appreciated.

We have tested several different fillers over the years, however this is the only one that can be drilled/sanded or painted within 15 mins and also works on larger holes. It is also really strong. I did not realise this type of filler is very similar to Automotive filler.

Ideally you need a drill, perhaps find a local friend who has one you can borrow or a local neighbour, with a drill this will only take a few mins and is the easiest way

Yes you can drill into aluminium windows, but make sure you only drill approx 5mm deep so you do not drill into the glass. If drilling into aluminium a self tapping screw would be better - watch this video - ruclips.net/video/mcNrpS6DN2U/видео.html at around 2mins 55 seconds

If you wall is really crumbly, you could could repair and fill the holes - and redrill them - similar to this video - ruclips.net/video/908mAchfa1g/видео.htmlsi=YZq-XDCQYxai_Owe or put a white wooden batten across the top of the window and screw your pole brackets to that

Oh dear, get your pole width right first and then when your open your curtains you will still let plenty of light in

You need to get a big needle and thread the cord back through the curtain tape. There are several cords so look at a cord above or below and do the same.

The brackets should be ok, you may need to check what the clearance is between the pole and the wall. If the pole is approx 4 inches away from the wall. it should be ok for eyelet curtains.

It depends on how close it is too the window sill, If the radiator is approx 6 inches below the window sill, You could measure from 1 inch above the radiator, You need to make sure the curtains do not catch on the radiator and also come below the window sill to block out light and look in proportion to the window. It is personal preference so up to you.

I am not sure what brand roller blind you have, but normally the chord mechanism on the side of the roller blind is pushed tightly into an aluminium tube of the roller blind . You need to take the roller blind down from the widow, slide the chord mechanism out from the side. And push the chord mechanism back in so the joiner does not catch, then you will be able to operate the blind so it opens and closes fully

yes sadly you do

you need to use a centre support hook in the middle to stop it from bowing . Although this is not ideal because once the rod has a centre support you can not move the curtain. On wider windows over 200cm the ideal solution would be to use a curtain track and have curtain tape on the nets . This way the track is dead straight and you can also slide curtains if needed.
